WOMEN have an international day...

Why is it that women still have an international day? I keep wondering about this every year when 8th March comes. Is it because women are an unprotected minority? I don't believe so. Yes, you've got it!... The reason why is because women in the 21st century are still discriminated against almost everywhere! Everyone has to accept this. Just have a quick look at most muslim countries, where women still have to wear veils or burkas and cannot ask for a divorce even if their husbands ill-treat them or have other women...However, you don't have to go so far. Look around and you'll find out that discrimination is everywhere... Men and women are different, of course. It is written that they have the same rights, nevertheless there some facts that prove the contrary. Women usually have two jobs (the house and children and their career); statistics say that there are more unemployed women than men and that the companies prefer men to women when it comes to choose from job candidates; their wages are inferior even if they do the same job and a woman always has to prove to the limit that she is good to have some credit in her career. These are facts. So, it seems that women still need an international day for many decades to come...

I would have to agree...with some exceptions...
the muslim community.
It's part of their centuries old tradition that women have to wear those vests..I don't like it...I don't aprove it..it's just how it is...
the job opportunities..I know statistics don't lie but it's true that for some jobs...men are preferred...but there are other jobs..that women are the ideal.Of course that the employers are a little sceptical and machists will never hire a woman unless he has no other choice.

Women having two jobs...it's true..but if the husband/boyfriend/whatever(:P) try to help instead of just being a woman doing everything..the little tasks are divided and there's a lot of time for other things..And yes there is the problem of the single-moms...in that case...I don't have a simple solution what I have is a lyric of a song by Queen "Friends will be Friends"..take your conclusions out of this one :)

About women having an internacional day...I have nothing against it..on the contrary..i think it's great.
Everyday should be women's day..and then again...everyday should be christmas...and so...women's day is whenever Man wants...now it's getting confusing :P

Well I think I explained my point of view..and now..I will leave you with a link to a new project called Dakota in Panic..check it out!!

Women have the right to be as free as men. "We are equal", everyone can say this sentence but this is difficult to enforce. We like to be women and we leave here an advice for all girls and women: fight for equality, because we have the right to it!

I think you're confusing things.. the women's international day doesn't have nothing to do with discrimination..
by that point of view, also fathers, workers, children, etc etc would be discriminated :S
in my opinion, we have this day because we're great and we deserve one day dedicated to us :P

also I don't think that women keep being so discriminated nowadays.. ok, they still are, especially in muslim countries, as you said.. But we've been fighting for our independence, and for our value, and I think that - at least in some things - we've win that fight.
Nowadays we can see women with almost all the jobs (maybe just without being priests.. what is a nice thing for a church that prays for the equality between the humans do....).. And we can see men doing house tasks, and taking care of the children (in some cases are even them who take the licence to stay with the baby [the paternity licence], while the women go work). Women just have to know how to impose the equality on the couple.

on the other hand.. is given a lot more freedom to the boys, and a lot more responsibility to the girls, especially while they're young: girls play with dolls and little houses, pretending they're mothers and housewives; boys play with guns and fighting. Then boys can go out until late on the night, and spend days away from home without problems; parents always worry more with their daughters than with their sons...

nevertheless, sometimes is good to be "an unprotected minority".. it's nice to have a guy opening the door for us, giving us place to sit, burdening our things, "protecting" us... Also, most of them admit that they do everything a woman wants them to do :P so, what is the "an unprotected minority" on the end? xD

it's been proved that women can do a lot of tasks at the same time, and boys can only do one thing at a time :P
we're not an inferior species.. we just have to know how to get what we want, and don't allow men to look us down on.

Well finally I remembered to type the link on my internet page!

Yes unfortunatly I have to agree with all of this!
We both share the same rights... by the law!! Not by people's mind! It's difficult sometimes for a man to understand we can do things as good as they can! Or even better... The truth is that they can't stand the fact that they can be the same person a woman is! They can't stand the fact of being beaten by one other person of the opposite sex simply because they have this idea we can't live without them!! It's true!! It's just that they don't ever recognize they can't live without us!
And this, dear men, it's a shame!
