Perfect Body, perfect person?

Crazy diets, crazy thoughts, the wish to be perfect and have a perfect body... This is one of some teenagers' problems. Do we have to be perfect to be successful? Is our body image important?

"Perfect" by Alanis Morissette

Sometimes is never quite enough
If you're flawless, then you'll win my love
Don't forget to win first place
Don't forget to keep that smile on your face

Be a good boy
Try a little harder
You've got to measure up
And make me prouder

How long before you screw it up
How many times do I have to tell you to hurry up
With everything I do for you
The least you can do is keep quiet

Be a good girl
You've gotta try a little harder
That simply wasn't good enough
To make us proud

I'll live through you
I'll make you what I never was
If you're the best, then maybe so am I
Compared to him compared to her
I'm doing this for your own damn good
You'll make up for what I blew
What's the problem...why are you crying

Be a good boy
Push a little farther now
That wasn't fast enough
To make us happy
We'll love you just the way you are
If you're perfect

Healthy living is when people take care of the health. To be healthy we should have a balanced diet and do daily exercise.
We should eat vegetables and fruit, drink a lot of water, avoid sugars, fast-food and eat low-fat meat. Milk is very important to have strong bones and teeth. Daily exercise and weight control decrease the risk of chronic diseases. We should do a lot of sports and sleep enough.
Nowadays fast-food is young people´s favourite food and they don´t do exercise to keep fit.

haha I remember to have studied that song on my 9th grade, with you! We had to lower the volume of the radio on the parts where alanis sang louder and out of tune xD

The problem with a lot of people that do crazy diets and have crazy thoughts is that they think that they'll be more accepted on society if they're perfect. But nobody's perfect, that's impossible! We all have flaws, that's why we're humans and not gods... Nevertheless, the society we live in is more and more a futile society, that gives a lot of importance to things that really don't matter that much, and that judges people just by the way they look. And, based on this, people do stupid things, to try to have a better look. I think that it sucks. A good person is not the one that looks good on the outside, but on the inside. I know that this phrase is such a cliché, but it is true. For me, an intelligent and cultured person has much more value than a good looking but dumb person.

Raquel, it's funny that you still remember your 9th form! Yes, that song was not nice, but the lyrics is still appropriate to make us think about the topic "perfection". It's not healthy to look obsessively for perfection... Our existence should be much richer than that! I'm so glad that your thoughs are so wise! See you around!
